Bennett uses discarded or unwanted objects to create his captivating work, in turn giving each piece a new purpose and meaning transcending that which they were manufactured for. In 2002 he was awarded the Residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. He holds a PHD in Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts, UNSW where he also lectures in painting
