Exhibition Text
In this current body of work, exotic women hold brushes and fruits amusing themselves as they arrange and offer their own aesthetic compositions to the artist, entertaining themselves in a kind of self-instruction in the arts. A new motif in Home’s 2011 works is a white teapot depicting playful renderings of energetic young boys. Recalling the traditional story of the “100 children” at play, Home wittily works his fine porcelain teapots into a conversation with his background characters, women have seemingly found moments of quiet pleasure and sanctuary whilst their children safely play within the teapots, which function as a form of container or crèche.
